Reality bites.

Happy Year of the Ox

Reality bites. I only have 12 more days before I bid farewell to Singapore, and head overseas to Tekong. As if to mock me, my enlistment date falls oh so nicely on the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year. With my 2-3 weeks confinement, I have only the first 2 days of the LNY to meet up with friends & relatives for reunion meals/gatherings.

In fact, there are unconfirmed insider rumours that the 'A" Level results may come out somewhere close to the end of January, or early February. Talk about coincidence; first LNY, then NS, then Results. What more?

These few weeks have been pretty mundane. But I must say, this is the first holiday in so many years, that I have been able to really take a break. For the past few years, I have been troubled by school obligations even during Holiday periods. I had forgotten how holidays were like, what they were truly meant for.

I've been reading up on a myraid of topics on the net, from University admissions to Laptops. Why laptops? Because I cannot agree with my current laptop at the moment. It's internal fan is failing, there isn't enough HDD space, the screen hinges are almost non-existent, and the design doesn't appeal to me at all. Maybe I'm too much of an asthetics person, hence I cannot help but look at Sony Vaio notebooks and Apple Macbooks.

Apple MacBook Pro 17-Inch

I cannot help but glare in amazement in that screen. My only gripe is the price and the weight. Although it truly is the slimmest and lightest 17-Inch notebook around, it's still quite a bit of a heavyweight. And it's not cheap too, starting from S$4388. Anyone wishes to sponsor me?

Maybe with my savings from the 24-months imprisonment in NS, and salary from whatever job I can get my hands on after NS, I will have enough to get that MacBook, or maybe a really beautiful Sony Vaio. I still have a load of items on my wishlist, and they all cost a lot. Money money money, when will I ever get enough of it.

Besides, MacBook runs on Mac OS X Leopard, whereas Sony Vaio (by that time) should be running on Windows 7. I have no idea which will be the more usable in time to come. After all, it depends on what I'll be studying in University. My course may require a Windows-based laptop instead. There're too many things to consider, but too early to decide. I'll just wait for time to pass, and money to accumulate!
